Chow's the Big Winner at Box Office Print E-mail

Stephen Chow's heartwarming sci-fi film "CJ7" was a hit at Shanghai's box office over its opening weekend.

According to Shanghai United Cinema Lines, the city's major cinema chain, the movie has taken 5.6 million yuan (US$767,000) in ticket sales since its national debut on Wednesday. It has grossed more than 30 million yuan nationally.

"It is a good performance for a film virtually without action," said Wu Hehu, the chain's deputy director. "Chow's large fan base seems a guarantee for strong box office."

Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) and Myolie Wu (胡杏兒) took part in a promotional event for Pentax cameras on Tuesday and although their hit series War Of In-Laws II <野蠻奶奶大戰戈師奶>, in which they play husband and wife characters, has finished airing now, they were still referring to each other as "husband" and "wife" at the promotion and even exchanging cameras as Valentines Day gifts. When the sponsors arranged for some female models to give Bosco some photography tips, Myolie pretended to be jealous of them, bringing much amusement to the audience.

Hong Kong Performing Artiste Guild Issue Statement Over 'Sex Photo' Scandal Print E-mail

As the obscene photograph scandal involving many big names in Hong Kong showbiz, such as Edison Chen (陳冠希), Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐), Bobo Chan (陳文媛) and now Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) continues to escalate, the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild (香港演藝人協會) actors' union held an emergency committee meeting today at the Kowloon Tsai Home Owners Association to discuss the matter.

Honorary president Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and current president Alan Tam (譚詠麟) were joined at the meeting by vice presidents Eason Chan (陳奕迅) and Richard Cheung (張權) as well as members of the executive committee including Chin Ka Lok (錢嘉樂), Astrid Chan (陳芷菁), Jo Koo (谷祖琳) and Terence Yin (尹子維).

After three hours of deliberations, Eric announced that the statement would be issued on behalf of the Guild by Astrid.
