If you are a musician who wants to perform at the Shanghai Stadium, you have to be really popular—so much so that you have the power to fill 80,000 seats with fans. That objective was a piece of cake for Taiwan pop king Jay Chou.

On Saturday night, Chou's fans jam-packed the venue, as the singer-songwriter put on a three-hour show that was a feast for both the eyes and ears.

Chou kept his word by presenting the audience with an old-Shanghai flavored affair. Besides a dozen costume changes, he showed off his skill on the piano, guitar and guzheng, a traditional Chinese zither.

Over the night, Chou performed 27 of his hit songs, with genres spanning rock, retro and hip-hop.

The show wrapped up with two encores followed by a boisterous sing-along.

Although his latest album, "Jay Chou on the Run", failed to gain rave reviews from critics, 28-year-old Chou managed to expand his fan base with his directorial debut, "Secret". A high-school romance film starred actress Lunmei Kwai and Chou himself. The film proved to be a big commercial success.
