The original Die Hard has given it's upcoming third sequel a boost by topping a new poll of the Greatest Action Movies Ever Made. The 1988 blockbuster, which cemented Bruce Willis as a Hollywood action man, beat fellow '80s movies Aliens and Raiders of the Lost Ark to claim the top spot in the Entertainment Weekly magazine countdown.

The top 10 is:

1. Die Hard

2. Aliens

3. Raiders of The Lost Ark

4. Mad Max

5. The Matrix

6. Seven Samurai

7. Gladiator

8.Saving Private Ryan

9. Hard-Boiled

10. Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
