   Monday May 12, 2008 Hong Kong The twelve finalists for this year's Miss Hong Kong Pageant met the press officially for the first time today at the Beverley Hills villa complex in Taipo. The ladies were introduced to the audience on the stage and then posed for photographs and answered questions from the waiting press. The average age of the finalists appears to have risen this year, with four of them aged 24 already. The majority of the ladies have entered occupations as students, two of the girls are flight attendants and Number 9 Tse Ching Ting (謝靜婷) is a private piano teacher. Although the competition has only just begun, there has already been a steady stream of gossip surrounding some of the girls, in particular Number 3 Edelweiss Cheung (張舒雅) and Number 4 Ko Hoi Ling (高海寧), whose names have already gained familiarity with the reporters. delweiss is the tallest contestant this year, standing at 5 ft 11 ins and was quizzed by the press about reports of her being a bit of a party animal. She admitted that she did used to smoke, but has given up for six months now after she graduated. As for the clubbing, she said that Lan Kwai Fong is a popular tourist attraction, so many people often frequent the area and this is not unusual. Asked if she felt that there was a vendetta against her on the internet, she said that she is quite a tomboy character, so there are plenty of her wild pictures of her having fun with her friends at the international school, but she does not understand why they have been published onto the internet in this way. When she was asked about the allegations of her complex love life, she refused to answer any questions about her private affairs. |
