Members of the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild (HKPAG) set off to visit the regions affected by the Sichuan Earthquake today.

Celebrities including Andy Lau (劉德華), Sammi Cheng (鄭秀文), Joey Yung (容祖兒), Gilbert Lam (林韋辰), Joey Meng (萬綺雯), Grace Cheung (張家瑩), Bowie Lam (林保怡) and Astrid Chan (陳芷菁) were among the contingent that set out from Hong Kong International Airport.

Sammi said that the group will be returning to Hong Kong on Saturday to prepare for the marathon fundraising concert on Sunday. She revealed that they had originally planned to take some clothes and medicines with them, but the organisers had advised them not to bring any more items because they will have to carry their own belongings for the journey.

Joey arrived in shades and looked a little overdressed for the journey. She said that she hoped to bring the love of the Hong Kong people to the victims.

HKPAG president Alan Tam (譚詠麟) had just returned from Italy, so he will be joining his colleagues tomorrow. He said that even his family did not know of his plans yet, but he hoped that they will understand his situation.
