The Miss Asia Pageant celebrates its 20th competition this year and a promotional event was held by ATV today, where former winners and contestants were invited to launch this year's recruitment campaign.

The Miss Asia Pageant celebrates its 20th competition this year and a promotional event was held by ATV today, where former winners and contestants were invited to launch this year's recruitment campaign.

Beauties from past pageants attending the event included Eva Lai (黎燕珊), Jaclyn Chu (朱慧珊), Joey Meng (萬綺雯), Jin Huiying (金慧英), Bonnie Lai (黎淑賢), Teresa Lau (樓茜妮), Kennes Yiu (饒珮君), Coffee Lui (呂晶晶) and Wang Hui (王慧).

At the event, the first Miss Asia winner, Eva, announced her intentions to start up the Miss Asia charitable foundation (仁美清敘) once again with good friend Jaclyn, who took the Miss Peace award in the same year. She added that she will be personally contacting other former contestants and winners to take part in future activities. Asked if she will be contacting Nina Li (利智), the second winner, Eva said that she will try, but she will respect other people's wishes if they do not want to take part. Jaclyn has also been in touch with Veronica Yip (葉玉卿), who has now emigrated to the States.

Joey revealed that it has been 19 years since she received the first runner up award in the pageant and smiled that she usually does not like to bring up this particular statistic. She showed her support for reforming the foundation and she has also offered her services as a member of the committee.
