Hana Yori Dango, the best!

Domyouji is such a loveable jerk. All the actors fit well to the characters (and even though i am a big fan of shota matsuda, soujiro) he is a bit stiff, but none the less great eye candy.

Tsukushi is perfect. Not pretty in the sense of "pretty" but she has spunk and character, the actor suits the character real real well.

I watched meteor garden, but i felt it was too flashy. The story was lacking.

But all in all it is the F4 in Hana Yori Dango(esp Matsumoto Jun) that does it in for me. No doubt by far the most addictive drama this season.

and yes, this season i find soujiro playing a bigger role, and he is cute ;) but definitely, the heart and soul of this drama is still domyouji and makino

i'm currently watching hyd season 2, and i gotta say it rocks!
i love hyd itself, although i never watched meteor garden because i'm not that interested in taiwanese dramas.
but hyd is a must watch.
all the actors portray their role very skillfully and i think this drama has all kinds of themes incorporated in it which is really good!

I quite liked Meteor Garden, although it did get a bit 'samey' towards the end, Meteor Garden 2 was really far fetched, I mean what are the chances of you going to Spain and crashing your car into a car driven by... yes... another Taiwanese person!

You are right about the acting though, most of them with the exception of Jerry Yan had never acted before and you could tell. Vanness Wu... good singer, good dancer... terrible actor.

HYD all the way. I don't really like any Taiwanese series unless it's based in ancient time. Most of their dramas are not even up to par with HK or Mainland. I'm sure there are exceptions but Meteor Garden is not one of them. Seriously it was F4's first time, how good can it be!!! On top of that, there are much prettier girls in HYD.

HK drama too. They just try to juice the concept. Instead of ending in 5 tapes it ends in like 10. I miss those days when there were 3 eps per tape. The good ol' days.

but i think how the story is plotted out in MG1 is more suitable for me. more dragged out rather than... 5 chapters crushed in one scene in hyd.

i personally liked meteor gardenn more just because it was the first drama i watched. but i like hana yori dango 2 better than meteor garden 2. meteor garden 2 was just too draggy. one more episode of hyd2 lefttt

Yeah, I lurve hana yori dango too! The cinematography and music and background were all more genuine than Taiwan's version ahha. But it's still very amusing seeing all that many fans croon over F4. I'm not one of them! ahhaha...

The F4 in Meteor Garden was pretty disappointing, and they didn't go to the extremes as they could have with the glamor and such, but it was fairly truthful to the original storyline so I liked it even though it was extremely repetitive after a while. HYD was bright and shiny, but especially for the second season... bounced a lot between things. Their F4 was pretty hot though. ^^;;

having seen both dramas i'll still go with meteor garden both seasons..
first off their F4 is way cuter..the hanayori's F4 is no where like the F4 of mg..
the storyline is long..but that's just because they're trying to stick with the original plot of the anime..geez it has like 51 episodes
the relationship bet. makino and rui is well more explained..you could see makino's emotional struggle as she tries to make up her mind on who she really has feelings for...but in hanayori this is vague..
and that scene with shigeru on top of tsukasa...didn't make any sense..how do you go from throwing a chair to being on top of tsukasa..but every step that led to shigeru being on top of tsukasa was shown in mg..
and the 2nd season's plot of hanayori..it was stupid..jus bec. someone close to you commited suicide..and ur under a lot of pressure..doesn't mean you have to ditch your gf..he's engagement to shigeru obviously doesn't have to do anything with this..bec. he has no idea before it came about..and in mg2 tsukasa's growing sense of maturity is more specified..he learned how to cook and when he found out how self-centered, rude and bratish he has been..we saw the change in his character..i don't seen any adult-like change in tsukasa in hanayori..except when he went down on his knees and hands begging to rui but that was clearly out of desperation..but it all comes down to the acting isn't it..mg's more comical..hyd's more dark and dramatical..but it isn't fair for the tai f4's acting skills to be compared to the jap f4..for most of them, its their first time of acting..specially huaze lei..but still managed to hold it down..

HYD!! I like how HYD is more fast-paced but keeps the drama; Meteor GArden seems to drag on forever and ever. Plus I kind of find HYD's F4 to be better looking, but that's only imo.

Meteor Garden, with 20 and 31 episodes , I have lost the will to live already with so many episodes! How can any drama has impact with so many episode, it is like imprisonmennt. When compared two lots of drama, the one that is about 10 episodes does it for me and anything near 20 is a killer! I started to watch Summer Scent a few months' ago and I am just on episode 13 out of 19 or is it 20! Gosh it is hard work after 10 episodes even though it is good drama.
Any drama that is over 10 and getting towards 30 episodes will always loose impact and momentum except in few cases where the story line is extemely strong and varied.

same here, i find Jdorama much better than Chinese dramas, sometimes on Chinese dramas with more episodes, i skip bits or do something at the same time as they get too boring but Jdorama 10-12 episodes is enough and thats good :D
