Made as a fund raiser for Chang Cheh who had come into financial difficulty, 'Just Heroes' had the support of some of the biggest names in Hong Kong action cinema in the eighties. Tsui Hark produces while John Woo shares director credits with Wu Ma; Woo apparently taking responsibility for the action scenes. Aside from the top-billing leading stars, the film is full of famous faces making cameos; Ti Lung, Lau Kar Wing, Ku Feng, Philip Kao. Chow Sing Chi plays one of the main supporting roles in one of his early career parts
Just Heroes tells the tale of three sons to a Triad Boss. After the boss is murdered by a sabotage on the behalf of his limo driver, the remaining bosses must decide who is to take over the business. Wai (David Chiang) was the dead bosses' choice, but he has quit the Triad games and focuses his time on selling fish instead. So, leaving it up to the two guys still in charge, Sou (Danny Lee) is chosen to take the bosses place. This upsets a few in the family, namely Jacky (Stephen Chow) who doesn't feel Danny Lee is the right man for the job. This causes tension within the group, and things begin to boil over when Wah (please forgive me if I have character names mixed up), another brother in the group and the person Jacky feels rightly deserves to be leader of the syndicate, receives a phone call from the Bosses' limo driver who says that Sou was the one who ordered the hit. Now this tape begins to circulate behind Sou's back, while he plans for his wedding. You just know tragedy could lie right behind the corner.
