View Full Version : Info on How to Burn Movies (with Subtitles), Songs and Conversion Guide
How to burn images (.iso, .bin, etc.) - usful when burning any media (movies, games, etc.)
What are these files?
These files are clone CDs of the legit retail version...by burning these images, you are burning the retail CD...and thus you get the exact files you get in the original CD on the CD in which you are burning...did that sound confuesing? lol
To burn these images onto a CD follow these steps:
1. Download Nero Burning Rom
2. Goto "Nero" on start menu
3. Move Crusor to Nero 6 Ultra Edition
4. Move Crusor to nero express
5. Select "Disc Image or saved product"
Choose the .cue file to burn the .bin file (The .cue file is a file required in recognizing the .bin file...so in order to burn the .bin file you need to start the process by first opening .cue - it would automatic "path" to the .bin file and start burning)
Choose the .iso file to burn the .iso file
If you are to burn .mdf images, you must need alcohol 120 percent program to burn...nero does not allow burning of those files...
1. Download Alcohol 120 percent
2. Open Alcohol 120 percent
3. Click on image burning wizard on the left hand side
4. Click on browse
5. Choose the associated .mdf file you want to burn (so .mds file) - same idea as the .bin file
IF you do not want to burn these files, you can set up these CD in a virtual drive...a drive that tricks ur comp letting them know a "CD" is in the "HD"
You can either use alcohol 120 percent or Deamon Tools to do this
If Deamon tools then follow these steps:
1. Download Deamon Tools (simply search for this on google)
2. Open Deamon tools
3. On your task bar...a deamon tool icon would show up...right click that icon
4. Goto Virtual CD/DVD Rom
5. Goto Device 0: [the virtual drive ] No Media
6. Click on Mount Image
7. Choose the image you wish to mount
8. It would auto load just like a CD but on ur HD...or if it doesn't load...just goto My Computers, and double click on the virtual drive
If Alcohol 120 percent
1. Open Alcohol 120 percent
2. At the bottom double click on virtual CD/DVD-Rom(0), until a drive pops up
3. Right click that drive, click on mount image, and choose the image in which u would like to mount
If you want to burn a Audio CD...simply follow these steps [When your cd player does not support MP3/WMA]:
- This burns by time
1. Download Nero Burning Rom
2. Goto "Nero" on start menu
3. Move Crusor to Nero 6 Ultra Edition
4. Move Crusor to nero express
5. Goto music, then choose Audio CD
6. Click on add
7. Choose the songs you want to add (hint: highlight if you want to add more than one at a time)
8. Click on Add
9. When finsh adding all the songs...click on finsh
10. Click next
11. Then click on burn
If you want to burn a mp3 CD...simply follow these steps [When your cd player does support MP3/WMA]
- This burns by "size" - advantage, now you can burn 200 songs onto one CD!
1. Download Nero Burning Rom
2. Goto "Nero" on start menu
3. Move Crusor to Nero 6 Ultra Edition
4. Move Crusor to nero express
5. Click on data
6. Click on data disc
6. Click on add
7. Choose the songs you want to add (hint: highlight if you want to add more than one at a time)
8. Click on Add
9. When finsh adding all the songs...click on finsh
10. Click next
11. Then click on burn
How to burn VCDs, when you DO NOT have an image, instead u have either .dat or .mpeg files
1. Download Nero Burning Rom
2. Goto "Nero" on start menu
3. Move Crusor to Nero 6 Ultra Edition
4. Move Crusor to nero express
5. Goto Video/Pictures
6. Click on Video CD
7. Click on Add
8. Click on the movie you want to burn [either .dat or .mpg file]
9. Click on add
10. Click on Finsh
11. Click on next
12. click on burn
Burning Subtitles (subtitle files onto avi file)
Explained carefully here (http://divxstation.com/article.asp?aId=100) and then you need to convert the file to DVD (if you plan to watch it on a DVD player) unless you got a dvd player that plays divx
Format not avi, see the conversion guide below
Conversion Guide: AVI, MPEG1/2/4, VCD/SVCD/DVD, DivX, XVid, ASF, WMV and RM/RMVB
Simple answer : Winavi (shareware but can be found on any known BT site)
For Example: RM to DVD
Click on Menu, Convert, Any to DVD, VCD, SVCD, MPEG (or click on the circle icons to the right hand side of the screen)
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/3088/untitledyo6.jpg
and then pick your RM file, after you done that you get the screen below
http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/9699/untitledkm0.jpg
Select your preferred output desination and then click on the Advanced tab, here you can change the the size of the output file by quality, etc to whatever you want
then click ok and you be back to the 2nd screenshot then click ok to convert
"To Burn" click on the Menu and "Burn Disc" (see 1st screenshot) or click on this icon http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/2553/untitledrk4.jpg
and then you burning application should run and you can choose to burn finished file to DVD/VCD, etc

Use RM Converter, this will convert RM, RAM and RMVB files.
Thanks for the info, imp, but I was wondering...does anyone know how to burn .BUP or .IFO files? NERO seems to be able to burn all files except for these 2... :(

ok well... you can burn a dvd to a .iso image. which is like 4gb.
how do people make dvd rip.. and then have a file that is only 700mb..
do they convert iso to avi some how?
.iso is sort of bad becaue the file is so big and u need to mount the image onto a virtual drive to play it.
avi is nice since its smaller file and can play easier
there's plenty of software for you to rip DVD's.. iso is just the image.. it's the actual files in it.

how many episodes can you burn onto one dvd and how do you do that? or do you only burn one episode per dvd?
It depend on the size of the episodes. I don't put more than 4 episodes to 1 DVD because of the output quality. Use Nero "Make your own DVD-Video" option. 4GB for DVD format and 7.8GB for DVD-9 format.

I try to add this file type into the playlist and nothing happens(it doesnt get added) and no error message occurs. Anyone else had this problem? Any help would be appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance
urghhh i am sick and tired of this... i have an avi, and GRAPHIC idx and sub. not text.
so because of this, i cant use the guide cuz its not text.. and some how, i ended up with a mastroka, which is good, BUT CANT BE BURNT ONTO A DVD T_T
im trying to avoid having to type 3 hours of script on subresync..
and some how, i need to end up with one video file with subs, so i can make some menus in nero....
but stupid idx and sub are images, not text..... urghhhh

If I'm right, some encoding programs let you control the size of the output file, which is probably why dvd rips are generally 700 mb, I have seen 1.4 gb ones too though.

I have been using DVDsanta for almost a year to burn rmvb files to DVD and it is working really good for me. With DVDsanta you can choose how many episodes/files you want to put into one DVD and it does the conversion for you to fit the format of DVD you want 4.7GB for single layer DVD or 8.5GB for dual layer DVD.
For one TV serie episode that last 45 minutes, it takes approx 50 minutes to convert. This all depends on your hardware (CPU,HD,RAM). I still have an old P4 2GHz with 1GB of RAM.

I got the same problem when I used Win AVI, it's not for all dramas, but it seems it does that to most Chinese RMVB's. I don't know why either. It doesn't matter if I convert it to AVI, DVD, or WMV, there's still a sound delay. If you don't need to work with subtitles, I have found Any Video Converter to be very helpful and easy to use and you don't get the sound delay anymore. Just convert it to Mpeg (NTSC or PAL) and it plays on most DVD players.
Hope this helps! :)

I have noticed that when I download series from the download section I am unable to use eovideo, winavi, virtualdubmod to convert the files from rmvb to avi.
I tried changing the file name to english as well but still no go...until I realized that the series rmvb files were contained in a folder with chinese characters in it as well. I changed that to english as well and bam we're in business.
If you're having issues previously, this might be the solution.

Turning off all unnecessary program like MSN, or anything that pops up. 2ndly, do not press the pause button, just let it run by itself and do not do other things. I am using WinAVI and so far so good... only delay if i forgot to turn off my MSN.

Really depends on the raw audio. With WinAVI it really doesn't do anything to elaborate with the file itself, it assumes.
If ppl find problems with the audio out put it self:
Rip the vid by itself & then audio by itself.
Lets face it, alot of different compressions different ppl make.
Personally i think WinAVI is a bunch of crap, no offence to ppl that love the program. Its a basic program to begin with.

I say it takes no more than 2hrs to convert and burn 5 hdzone-neo version chapters to dvd. The quality is pretty damn good, almost like watching it through my computer. (but i have a pretty good computer moniter, so others may be different.)
I think the menu can be a little better updated and such, but as long as it works, I'm a happy camper.

they are about 44minutes per chapter, VSO tells you in the info area. so i figure it about 250minutes per disk to burn to dvd.

k so i have all these rmvb files that i have changed into vob, ifo and bup files using winavi...and i want to burn 4-5 episodes (hopefully with separate chapters when i watch it on my dvd player) onto one dvd...but they all have the same ending ie: VTS_01_0...etc. so it gets messy when i try burning them onto the dvd. and nero keeps showing some message about not being able to reallocate some files...
im out of ideas...any help? what other programs/software do i need? i've tried rewriting the ifo files using ifoedit and it's still not working...im new at burning episodes onto dvds so this is all very confusing...not even sure if this is the place to post this...

RM!! i dont know what they are, but ive dealt with them before and ended up just trashing them cuz i didnt know how to play them
With RM files, rename them with RMVB so add the VB at the end and it should play

What are the settings you guys use in Winavi to convert?? I convert the files to .avi and burn to disc so I can watch using my divx DVD player. Most times when I burn to disc though, the audio ends up being out of sync. The playback is fine when on the computer....its just after putting on disc that I have problems. Please help me out if you could. Thanks.

Use ConvertXtoDvd in order to author a dvd which is playable in most dvd player.
This is where you can get the software
h**p://genexsys.com/dvd/vso-convertxtodvd-31340_cracks_keygens_serials_patches.html
and here is the how to archive
h**p://www.ehow.com/how_2145490_use-convertxtodvd.html
just google for the instruction on how to use this software.
FYI it's very simple thus it's very easy to use.
you might want to use nero to burn the authored dvd to DVD-R

I'm not trying to convert to DVD, just AVI. I'll stick with winavi but I just want to know the settings.
convertxtodvd is a great program - it allow you to title you menu in chinese character. Depending on how many chapter you are converting and you cpu speed - I am able to convert 5 chapter in 1 hr.
The one thing that this program do not offer is to cnvert a dual language rmvb file - anyone that have a program that will do this.

Is it possible someone answer my question without referring me to other software or telling me how great these other programs are? I just want a simple answer to what are the settings of winavi you guys use.

yea does anybody know what softwares to convert RMVB files that I can play on my DVD player. I am having major problems here with RMVB, I want to watch it on my DVD player...thanks.
WinAVI is the way to go...
I got winavi 7.6 and I tried to convert to DVD, but then it says it can't read the rmvb file and its not because the file is in chinese or something. So my question is, do I need to download something from winavi inorder to conver rmvb to dvd?
use version 8, it supports dvd menu as well...
damn converting takes up so much time. Wish there was a dvd player that plays rmvb files.
yes not here in america thou, in asia, there is, all you need is to buy the player, put in a 2.5" (notebook size) hd and have it connected to TV and you can select the files to play, neat eh?
is there a program that'll let me burn like 20 hours onto a one-sided dvd??
not if you get single sided blu ray writer, then you can fit 25 hours =0
I have been using DVDsanta for almost a year to burn rmvb files to DVD and it is working really good for me. With DVDsanta you can choose how many episodes/files you want to put into one DVD and it does the conversion for you to fit the format of DVD you want 4.7GB for single layer DVD or 8.5GB for dual layer DVD.
For one TV serie episode that last 45 minutes, it takes approx 50 minutes to convert. This all depends on your hardware (CPU,HD,RAM). I still have an old P4 2GHz with 1GB of RAM.
i have q6600 with 4gb ram and 3.5TB hd space...i use WinAVI and it takes approx. 28 mins - 40 mins (depending on your output quality) for 5x 42 min RMVBs ... for those who had a slightly larger DVD-5 output size, don't waste time in redo it again, use DVD Shrink to compress it a little...i have 1 hd for windows, 1 hd for downloads, 2 hd for converted stuff to start...i will never download and read stuff from the same hd
Yea, I get the same problem when I burn it to DVD. I convert the rmvb file to avi and then burn it to a disk. There's a delay in sound. Anyone know how to fix this?
there can be different factors for this...(1) your computer isn't fast enough due to doing too many things at once (like listening to music, watching a video, high speed downloads)...(2) your source files is corrupt, try to see if the source are like that as well...(3) most important!!! are you downloading, reading and converting to the SAME hard drive, that will decrease the read/write performance...
WinAVI requires something called the RMdll, it is a zipped file with all the RM decoders...after this is extracted to the 'Filter' folder, it works like a charm... (this seems to be an issue with older versions of WinAVI)
I say it takes no more than 2hrs to convert and burn 5 hdzone-neo version chapters to dvd. The quality is pretty damn good, almost like watching it through my computer. (but i have a pretty good computer moniter, so others may be different.)
I think the menu can be a little better updated and such, but as long as it works, I'm a happy camper.
isn't 2 hours too long? LOL
my times for 6cn 5x 42 min DVD-RMVBs are approx Lowest Quality (30 mins), Lower Quality (45 mins), Medium Quality (55 mins), Higher Quality (70 mins), Highest Quality (< 90 mins)
Other than Winavi, which program do you guys/girls recommend when converting rmvbs to vobs?
Winavi is frustrating to use at times.
i have been using this since version 6.7 and never had an issue with it,...
