Badminton an asian sport

Hey, how many of you play badminton? When i was in high school, whenever, there was a badminton tournament, I would see more asians than whites. Do you think asians are naturally better at this sport?

Probably, because of their physical attributes. Cant remember too well from my socio class, but the scientists have established that because of certain physical attributes, certain ethnicity excel in certain sports compared to others. Nonetheless, training also takes part.

haha yeah i actually play volleyball, but badminton is definitely next on my list of favorites. i usually play with my friends on the weekends when the weather is nice.

as for whether asians are naturally better at it or not, i really don't think asians are born better in badminton, just that they are culturally more exposed to badminton than other nationalities. i think any nationality can groom their athletes to current chinese level if they are given the same amount of training/exposure.

that is completely false, there is no scientific proof that one race/ethnicity is better than any other in sports... physically... why there are so many more people of one race/ethnicity in certain sports are dictated through society... this can be proven through the Olympics, FIBA World Championship, FIFA World Cup, etc... if only one race/ethnicity developed the physical attributes to be the best at certain sports, then the gold/championship would always go to the same group of people... which it doesn't ;)

yes, training does count for a lot of it... and by saying location, assuming u mean for example, west African sprinters being some of the best in the world, it makes no difference to say someone from China who had the same training regimen... none...

what is there to doubt? The world's current best in Male and Female respectivly are Chinese, and I don't doubt that... But the world's best mixed doubles is an English team... minorities? yeah, by numbers... not by talent/skill... well, the world is estimated to have about 6.5 billion people... China alone estimates about 1.3 billion chinese people... add in an educated guess of Chinese people around the world... carry the 1.... it comes out to be about 2(3) out of 10... and India's catching up too -sweat

Playing badminton is something that I'm fond of. Sometimes, I will play at least 3 times a week in hostel. It's really hard for use to book the badminton court here because the schedule is really packed.

badminton is not really popular, but my high school used to have it as sport when we don't have enough space for tennis or ping pong. But most of American don't know how to play badminton and equipments are rare to find, it was surprised to find its a seasonal item after I asked couple of sports retailers
