To chase or not to chase?

    Hey fellow PAers,

First of all i'd like to wish you all a happy new year hahaha ^^V

ok, so basically this was something that happened to me awhile back and I've already made my decision on it but i'd still like to hear your opinions on this scenario haha.

so i met this girl awhile back and we started talking and i started to attract to her, but here's the catch: she just came out of a seven year relationship LOL. i was kinda on the fence because of this so i decided to consult my friends about it.

that didn't help either since they gave me mixed answers:
group1: don't chase her cause you'll just be rebound since she just got off a long term re, unless that's what you're going for.
group2: chase her cause it doesn't matter how long her last relationship was or if she just came out of it if you're the right guy in her eyes.

so i guess what i'm really asking is: what would YOU have done in my shoes haha

    cheers

    ..... you consulted your friends?

Riiiight.. young'ins these days seem to have to do everything in packs... no opinions of your own?

Anyways my view, don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. So fuck it, just go for it and make the most of it

lol who gives a fuck whether or not you might be a rebound. At this point, after a 7 year relationship, any relationship she might have is going to be a rebound from that one... unless you manage to stay together for like 8 years and get married.

If you want it, and you can have it, then take it.

What really matters is if you really do have feelings for her and truly like her. There's always a risk of a relationship failing no matter what the circumstance is, so why not try? Good luck..

Well you are basically saying she's just a girl you met, not even a close friend or anything, if you like her then go for it, the worst thing it could happen is that she rejects you. What if she was into you also? or what if she's kinda lonely and you get some rebound sex? I don't think you lose much if you try.

A famous statement in Pride and Prejuice Chapter 6 , although your case is not marriage but in principle when the chemistry works, ignoring the truths and facts can bring hapiness. Hence the expression that ignorance is bliss. "Happiness in marriage is entirely a matter of chance. If the dispositions of the parties are ever so well known to each other, or ever so similar before-hand, it does not advance their felicity in the least. They always contrive to grow sufficiently unlike afterwards to have their share of vexation; and it is better to know as little as possible of the defects of the person with whom you are to pass your life."
Relationship is about complex and simple interactions between people, what works for one may not work for another. The more you find negative and act on it the more lonely your life will be.

I say go for it but pproach with caution. People fresh out of relationships have baggage to deal with, mainly figuring out why things went wrong between them & they'll fantasize about the good times they had. Especially a possible SEVEN years of good times.
Maybe it's easier to let her know you're there for her if she needs you. Give her time and space to process the relationship she's just left. She'll be glad to have you in her support group if you don't mind listening or cheering her up. Good luck!
